फरीदकोट में प्रेम विवाह की खौफनाक सजा: पिता ने बेटी की चाकू मारकर हत्या, पांच आरोपी गिरफ्तार

पंजाब के फरीदकोट जिले में कथित ऑनर किलिंग का एक दिल दहला देने वाला मामला सामने आया है। परिवार की इच्छा के विरुद्ध प्रेम विवाह करने वाली 20 वर्षीय महकदीप कौर की उसके पिता और अन्य रिश्तेदारों ने कथित तौर पर चाकू मारकर हत्या कर दी। पुलिस ने त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए पिता समेत पांच आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। मामले की जांच जारी है। पुलिस के अनुसार, महकदीप कौर ने 4 मई 2026 को गांव बुर्ज हरिका निवासी जगदीप सिंह उर्फ आकाश से प्रेम विवाह किया था। परिवार की नाराजगी के चलते दोनों ने अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए हाईकोर्ट में याचिका भी दायर की थी और बठिंडा जिले के भगता भाईका गांव में रह रहे थे। 20 जुलाई को महकदीप की मां ने फोन कर दोनों को मिलने के लिए बुलाया। रास्ते में युवती के पिता और अन्य रिश्तेदारों ने उनका पीछा किया। जान बचाने के लिए दोनों खेतों की ओर भागे, लेकिन कंटीले तारों में फंसने के बाद महकदीप को पकड़ लिया गया। पीड़ित पति के आरोप के मुताबिक, पिता ने पहले उस पर हमला किया और फिर महकदीप पर चाकू से कई वार कर दिए, जिससे उसकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। पुलिस ने मृतका के पिता वकील सिंह, ताऊ गुरप्रीत सिंह उर्फ गोरा, चाचा सुखचैन सिंह, सुख्खा सिंह उर्फ गोलू और दिलबाग सिंह को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। पुलिस ने हत्या में इस्तेमाल हथियार भी बरामद करने का दावा किया है। प्रारंभिक जांच में प्रेम विवाह से नाराजगी को हत्या की वजह माना जा रहा है, जबकि पूरे मामले की विस्तृत जांच जारी है।

Faridkot: A shocking case of alleged honor killing has come to light in Punjab's Faridkot district. 20-year-old Mahakdeep Kaur, who had entered into a love marriage against her family's wishes, was allegedly stabbed to death by her father and other relatives. Acting swiftly, the police have arrested five accused individuals, including the father. The investigation is ongoing. According to the police, Mahakdeep Kaur had married Jagdeep Singh (alias Akash), a resident of village Burj Harika, on May 4, 2026. Due to the family's displeasure, the couple had filed a petition in the High Court seeking protection and were residing in Bhagta Bhaika village, Bathinda district. On July 20, Mahakdeep's mother called and asked them to meet. On the way, the young woman's father and other relatives pursued them. To save their lives, the couple fled towards the fields, but Mahakdeep was caught after getting entangled in barbed wire. According to the aggrieved husband's allegations, the father first attacked him and then stabbed Mahakdeep multiple times, resulting in her death on the spot. The police have arrested the deceased's father (Vakil Singh), paternal uncle (Gurpreet Singh alias Gora), another paternal uncle (Sukhchain Singh), as well as Sukkha Singh (alias Golu) and Dilbag Singh. The police also claim to have recovered the weapon used in the murder. Preliminary investigations suggest that resentment over the love marriage was the motive behind the killing, while a detailed investigation into the entire matter is underway.
