देहरादून में नंदा की चौकी का 16 करोड़ का नया पुल धंसा: पहली बारिश में दिखी खामी, निर्माण गुणवत्ता पर उठे सवाल

उत्तराखंड के देहरादून-पांवटा साहिब पुराने राजमार्ग पर नंदा की चौकी स्थित टौंस नदी पर करीब 16 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बना नया पुल पहली ही भारी बारिश में धंस गया। हाल ही में यातायात के लिए खोले गए इस पुल में आई क्षति ने निर्माण गुणवत्ता और निगरानी व्यवस्था पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं। पुल में धंसाव के बाद प्रशासन और लोक निर्माण विभाग (PWD) की टीम मौके पर पहुंची और जांच शुरू कर दी है। यह पुल उस अस्थायी पुलिया की जगह बनाया गया था, जो 11 जुलाई की रात तेज बहाव में बह गई थी। इसके बाद विभाग ने निर्माण कार्य तेजी से पूरा कर 12 जुलाई से नए पुल पर यातायात शुरू करा दिया था। लेकिन पहली ही बड़ी बारिश में पुल के धंसने से लोगों में चिंता बढ़ गई है और मार्ग की सुरक्षा पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं। दरअसल, 15 सितंबर 2025 को इसी स्थान पर स्थित पुराना मुख्य पुल क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया था। इसके बाद करीब 10 महीने तक ह्यूम पाइप डालकर बनाई गई अस्थायी पुलिया के सहारे यातायात चलता रहा। मार्च 2026 में लगभग 16 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से नए पुल का निर्माण शुरू किया गया था, जिसे हाल ही में पूरा किया गया था। अब पुल में आए धंसाव के कारण इस महत्वपूर्ण मार्ग पर आवागमन प्रभावित हो गया है। प्रशासन ने तकनीकी जांच के आदेश दिए हैं और अधिकारियों का कहना है कि धंसाव के वास्तविक कारणों का पता लगाने के बाद आवश्यक कार्रवाई की जाएगी। स्थानीय लोगों ने निर्माण कार्य की गुणवत्ता की निष्पक्ष जांच कराने और जिम्मेदार एजेंसियों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की मांग की है।

A new bridge constructed at a cost of approximately ₹16 crore over the Tons River at Nanda Ki Chowki—located on the old Dehradun-Paonta Sahib highway in Uttarakhand—has subsided following the very first heavy rainfall. The damage to this bridge, which had only recently been opened to traffic, has raised serious questions regarding construction quality and the oversight mechanism. Following the subsidence, teams from the administration and the Public Works Department (PWD) arrived at the site and initiated an investigation. This bridge had been built to replace a temporary culvert that was washed away by strong currents on the night of July 11. Subsequently, the department had expedited construction and opened the new bridge to traffic on July 12. However, the bridge's subsidence during the first major spell of rain has sparked public concern and raised questions about the safety of the route. Notably, the original main bridge at this location had been damaged on September 15, 2025. For the following ten months, traffic was maintained via a temporary culvert constructed using Hume pipes. Construction of the new bridge, costing around ₹16 crore, began in March 2026 and was recently completed. Traffic on this vital route has now been disrupted due to the subsidence. The administration has ordered a technical inquiry, and officials state that necessary action will be taken once the actual causes of the subsidence are determined. Local residents have demanded an impartial investigation into the construction quality and strict action against the responsible agencies.
