जिला सिरमौर के माजरा वन परिक्षेत्र के अंतर्गत आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र में खैर के पेड़ों की अवैध कटाई का मामला सामने आया है। वन विभाग की टीम ने कार्रवाई करते हुए मौके से एक मोटरसाइकिल और अवैध रूप से काटी गई खैर की लकड़ी बरामद की है। वन परिक्षेत्र अधिकारी माजरा रेंज सचिन शर्मा ने पुलिस थाना माजरा में शिकायत दर्ज करवाई कि वन विभाग की टीम सुबह करीब 3:30 बजे आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र Banswali C-12 में गश्त पर थी। इस दौरान कुछ लोग तीन मोटरसाइकिलों पर खैर की लकड़ी की कथित रूप से अवैध कटाई और ढुलाई करते पाए गए। वन विभाग की टीम को देखकर मौके पर मौजूद लोग भागने लगे। इस दौरान एक मोटरसाइकिल HP-17F-3916 और अवैध खैर की लकड़ी बरामद कर ली गई। जांच के दौरान वन क्षेत्र में खैर के तीन पेड़ कटे हुए पाए गए। इसी दौरान एक पिकअप चालक नसीम निवासी मिस्सरवाला वाहन समेत मौके से फरार हो गया। वन विभाग के अनुसार बरामद अवैध रूप से काटी गई खैर की लकड़ी का अनुमानित बाजार मूल्य करीब 2,91,684 रुपये है। पुलिस थाना माजरा में लकड़ी तस्करी के आरोप में भारतीय वन अधिनियम की विभिन्न धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है। पुलिस मामले की जांच कर फरार आरोपियों की पहचान और उनकी भूमिका का पता लगाने में जुटी है।

A case of illegal felling of Khair trees has come to light in the reserved forest area under the Majra Forest Range of Sirmaur district. Acting on the matter, a Forest Department team seized a motorcycle and the illegally felled Khair timber from the site. Sachin Sharma, the Forest Range Officer (Majra Range), lodged a complaint at the Majra Police Station stating that the Forest Department team was patrolling the 'Banswali C-12' reserved forest area around 3:30 AM. During the patrol, individuals on three motorcycles were found allegedly felling and transporting Khair timber illegally. Upon spotting the Forest Department team, the individuals present at the scene attempted to flee. During the ensuing action, a motorcycle (HP-17F-3916) and the illegal Khair timber were seized. An inspection revealed that three Khair trees had been felled in the forest area. Meanwhile, a pickup driver named Naseem, a resident of Missarwala, managed to escape the scene with his vehicle. According to the Forest Department, the estimated market value of the seized illegally felled Khair timber is approximately ₹2,91,684. A case regarding timber smuggling has been registered at the Majra Police Station under various sections of the Indian Forest Act. The police are investigating the matter and working to identify the absconding accused and ascertain their roles.
