जंतर-मंतर अब प्रदर्शन के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं? सुप्रीम कोर्ट करेगा याचिका पर सुनवाई
नई दिल्ली: देश की राजधानी दिल्ली स्थित जंतर-मंतर को प्रदर्शन स्थल के रूप में बनाए रखने पर अब सुप्रीम कोर्ट में सवाल उठे हैं। सोमवार को सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने एक जनहित याचिका (PIL) पर सुनवाई के लिए सहमति जताई, जिसमें कहा गया है कि जंतर-मंतर अब विरोध-प्रदर्शनों के लिए उपयुक्त स्थान नहीं रह गया है। याचिका में दावा किया गया है कि यहां होने वाले लगातार प्रदर्शनों से स्थानीय निवासियों को भारी असुविधा होती है और आवश्यक सेवाओं तथा चिकित्सा आपूर्ति तक प्रभावित होती है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत की अध्यक्षता वाली पीठ, जिसमें न्यायमूर्ति जॉयमाल्य बागची और न्यायमूर्ति वी. मोहन शामिल थे, ने केंद्र सरकार सहित अन्य पक्षों को नोटिस जारी किया। अदालत ने सॉलिसिटर जनरल तुषार मेहता से इस मामले पर सरकार का पक्ष प्रस्तुत करने के लिए निर्देश लेने को कहा। यह याचिका सतिश चंद कौशिक द्वारा दायर की गई है, जिसमें प्रदर्शनों के लिए किसी वैकल्पिक स्थान की व्यवस्था करने की मांग की गई है। सुनवाई के दौरान मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने कहा कि याचिका में उठाए गए मुद्दे महत्वपूर्ण हैं, क्योंकि जंतर-मंतर क्षेत्र में आने-जाने (इंग्रेस और एग्रेस) में परेशानी होती है और इससे आवश्यक वस्तुओं व चिकित्सा आपूर्ति पर भी असर पड़ सकता है। अदालत ने मामले में नोटिस जारी करते हुए इसे अलग से सूचीबद्ध करने का निर्देश दिया। अब इस मामले की अगली सुनवाई में यह तय हो सकता है कि भविष्य में दिल्ली में बड़े विरोध-प्रदर्शनों के लिए नया स्थल निर्धारित किया जाए या नहीं।

Questions have been raised in the Supreme Court regarding the continued use of Jantar Mantar—located in the national capital, Delhi—as a protest site. On Monday, the apex court agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) arguing that Jantar Mantar is no longer a suitable location for protests. The petition claims that the frequent protests held there cause significant inconvenience to local residents and disrupt essential services and the delivery of medical supplies. A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohan issued notices to the Central Government and other parties. The court asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to seek instructions from the government regarding its stance on the matter. The petition was filed by Satish Chand Kaushik, who has sought the arrangement of an alternative site for protests. During the hearing, the Chief Justice remarked that the issues raised in the petition are significant, noting that the Jantar Mantar area faces problems regarding ingress and egress, which could also impact the movement of essential goods and medical supplies. While issuing notices in the case, the court directed that it be listed separately. The next hearing may determine whether a new venue should be designated for major protests in Delhi in the future.
