जिला सिरमौर पुलिस की पीओ (प्रोक्लेम्ड ऑफेंडर) सेल ने वर्ष 2021 के चर्चित गांजा बरामदगी मामले में लंबे समय से फरार चल रहे उद्घोषित अपराधी युसुफ अली निवासी उपरली भंगाणी, तहसील पांवटा साहिब को गिरफ्तार करने में सफलता हासिल की है। पुलिस के अनुसार थाना पुरुवाला में दर्ज मामले में आरोपी के कब्जे से करीब चार क्विंटल गांजा बरामद किया गया था। मामले के बाद से आरोपी फरार चल रहा था। लगातार गैरहाजिर रहने पर माननीय न्यायालय पांवटा साहिब ने 11 मई 2023 को उसे उद्घोषित अपराधी घोषित कर दिया था। पीओ सेल नाहन की विशेष टीम, जिसमें आरक्षी मोहित सैनी, मुख्य आरक्षी विनय और आरक्षी जगपाल शामिल थे, ने देहरादून में तैनात एसटीएफ पुलिस कर्मी दीपक चंदोला के सहयोग से गुप्त सूचना के आधार पर उत्तराखंड के धर्मावाला चौक के पास नाकाबंदी की। सूचना के अनुसार आरोपी सफेद रंग की एक्सयूवी-300 (UK07DN7796) में देहरादून से पांवटा साहिब की ओर आ रहा था। पुलिस ने वाहन को रोककर जांच की तो चालक की पहचान युसुफ अली के रूप में हुई, जिसके बाद उसे मौके पर ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। आरोपी को पुलिस थाना पुरुवाला लाया गया है, जहां उसके विरुद्ध नियमानुसार कार्रवाई करते हुए मामले की आगामी जांच जारी है।

The Proclaimed Offender (PO) Cell of the Sirmaur District Police has successfully arrested Yusuf Ali—a proclaimed offender and resident of Uparli Bhangani, Tehsil Paonta Sahib—who had been absconding for a long time in connection with a high-profile cannabis seizure case from 2021. According to the police, approximately four quintals of cannabis had been recovered from the accused's possession in a case registered at the Puruwala Police Station. The accused had been on the run since the incident. Due to his continued absence, the Hon'ble Court at Paonta Sahib had declared him a proclaimed offender on May 11, 2023. Acting on a tip-off, a special team from the PO Cell Nahan—comprising Constable Mohit Saini, Head Constable Vinay, and Constable Jagpal—set up a checkpoint near Dharmawala Chowk in Uttarakhand, with the assistance of STF personnel Deepak Chandola (posted in Dehradun). Intelligence indicated that the accused was traveling from Dehradun towards Paonta Sahib in a white XUV-300 (UK07DN7796). Upon intercepting and searching the vehicle, the police identified the driver as Yusuf Ali and arrested him on the spot. The accused has been brought to the Puruwala Police Station, where further investigation is underway and legal proceedings are being initiated against him.
