महाराष्ट्र के ठाणे जिले के भिवंडी में गुरुवार देर रात एक दर्दनाक हादसे में चार मंजिला कोहिनूर बिल्डिंग का हिस्सा ढह गया। हादसे में अब तक 9 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है, जबकि कई अन्य लोगों के मलबे में दबे होने की आशंका है। राष्ट्रीय आपदा मोचन बल (NDRF) और भिवंडी फायर ब्रिगेड की टीमें लगातार राहत एवं बचाव अभियान चला रही हैं। प्रशासन के अनुसार, बालाजी नगर स्थित यह इमारत पहले ही भिवंडी-निजामपुर नगर निगम (BNMC) द्वारा जर्जर और खतरनाक घोषित की जा चुकी थी। इसके बावजूद भवन में मरम्मत का कार्य जारी था। हादसे से पहले रात 8 से 9 बजे के बीच इमारत से तेज दरारों की आवाजें सुनाई दी थीं। स्थानीय लोगों ने खतरे को भांपते हुए कई परिवारों को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाल लिया, लेकिन कुछ निवासी और मरम्मत कार्य में लगे मजदूर अंदर ही रह गए। रात करीब 11 से 11:30 बजे के बीच इमारत के बी-विंग का एक हिस्सा अचानक भरभराकर गिर गया। फायर ब्रिगेड के अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, मलबे से अब तक 9 शव निकाले जा चुके हैं। मृतकों के शवों को पहचान और पोस्टमार्टम के लिए अस्पताल भेजा गया है, जबकि कुछ मजदूरों की पहचान अभी नहीं हो सकी है। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि मलबे में अभी भी लोगों के फंसे होने की आशंका बनी हुई है। बचाव अभियान युद्धस्तर पर जारी है और प्रशासन ने हादसे की जांच के आदेश दे दिए हैं। यह घटना एक बार फिर जर्जर इमारतों की निगरानी और सुरक्षा मानकों को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े करती है।

In a tragic incident late Thursday night, a portion of the four-storey Kohinoor building collapsed in Bhiwandi, located in Maharashtra's Thane district. So far, nine people have lost their lives, while many others are feared trapped under the debris. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Bhiwandi Fire Brigade are actively conducting relief and rescue operations. According to the administration, the building, located in Balaji Nagar, had previously been declared dilapidated and dangerous by the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC). Despite this, repair work was underway. Loud cracking sounds were heard coming from the building between 8 PM and 9 PM prior to the collapse. Sensing the danger, locals managed to evacuate several families to safety, but some residents and laborers engaged in repair work remained inside. Between 11 PM and 11:30 PM, a section of the building's 'B-wing' suddenly collapsed. Fire brigade officials state that nine bodies have been recovered from the debris so far. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for identification and post-mortem examinations, though the identities of some laborers remain unknown. Officials indicate that there is still a possibility of people being trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations are proceeding on a war footing, and the administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident. This event once again raises serious questions regarding the monitoring of dilapidated buildings and adherence to safety standards.
