जिला सिरमौर के पाँवटा साहिब में राज्य शतरंज एसोसिएशन द्वारा 18 व 19 अगस्त, 2026 को अंडर-13 राज्य स्तरीय शतरंज प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन हिमाचल प्रदेश चैम्बर ऑफ़ कॉमर्स एण्ड इंडस्ट्रीज़, गोंदपुर, पाँवटा साहिब में किया जाएगा। यह जानकारी जिला शतरंज एसोसिएशन की अध्यक्षा शैलजा ठाकुर ने दी। उन्होंने बताया कि इस प्रतियोगिता में प्रदेश भर के खिलाड़ी अपनी प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन करेंगे व बताया कि प्रतियोगिता के लिए पंजीकरण की प्रक्रिया आरंभ कर दी गई है। गूगल फॉर्म के माध्यम से प्रतिभागी अपना पंजीकरण करवा सकते हैं। यह प्रतियोगिता दो श्रेणियों में आयोजित करवाई जाएगी। ओपन श्रेणी में लड़का व लड़की दोनों भाग ले सकते हैं जबकि दूसरी श्रेणी में केवल लड़कियाँ ही भाग ले सकती हैं। इस प्रतियोगिता के दोनों श्रेणियों के दो-दो विजेता खिलाड़ी पुडुचेरी में आयोजित होने वाली राष्ट्रीय स्तरीय शतरंज प्रतियोगिता में हिमाचल प्रदेश का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगे। शैलजा ठाकुर ने बताया कि इस राज्य स्तरीय प्रतियोगिता में दोनों श्रेणियों में शीर्ष 3-3 खिलाड़ियों को पुरस्कृत भी किया जाएगा। सिरमौर सहित प्रदेश भर के खिलाड़ियों से इस प्रतियोगिता में बढ़-चढ़ कर भाग लेने का आह्वाहन किया है। शैलजा ठाकुर ने कहा कि जिला सिरमौर में शतरंज को बढ़ावा देने के लिए निरंतर प्रयासरत हैं। शतरंज में हुनर निखारने के लिए कोचिंग की सुविधा भी दी जा रही है। इस प्रतियोगिता का मुख्य उद्देश्य बच्चों में रणनीतिक सोच, अनुशासन और मानसिक विकास को बढ़ावा देना है। आयोजकों का मानना है कि “शतरंज हर बच्चे के भविष्य का हिस्सा होना चाहिए।” सभी विद्यालयों, अभिभावकों एवं शतरंज प्रेमियों को इस प्रतिष्ठित प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेने एवं इसका साक्षी बनने के लिए आमंत्रित किया जाता है। इस अवसर पर ऋषि तोमर, सचिव, अभिवक्ता विवेक शर्मा, सुरेन्द्र ठाकुर, संयुक्त सचिव, सुशील कुमार व आशीष ठाकुर, प्रधान, राज्य शतरंज एसोसिएशन उपस्थित रहे।

The State Chess Association will organize an Under-13 state-level chess tournament on August 18 and 19, 2026, at the Himachal Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Gondpur, Paonta Sahib. Shailaja Thakur, President of the District Chess Association, shared this information. She stated that players from across the state would showcase their talent in the event and noted that the registration process has already begun; participants can register via a Google Form. The tournament will be conducted in two categories: an 'Open' category (for both boys and girls) and a category exclusively for girls. The top two players from each category will represent Himachal Pradesh at the national-level chess tournament to be held in Puducherry. Shailaja Thakur added that the top three players in both categories would be awarded prizes. She urged players from Sirmaur and across the state to participate enthusiastically. Thakur emphasized that continuous efforts are being made to promote chess in Sirmaur district, including the provision of coaching facilities to help players hone their skills. The primary objective of the tournament is to foster strategic thinking, discipline, and mental development among children. The organizers believe that "chess should be a part of every child's future." Schools, parents, and chess enthusiasts are invited to participate in and witness this prestigious event. Rishi Tomar (Secretary), Advocate Vivek Sharma, Surendra Thakur (Joint Secretary), Sushil Kumar, and Ashish Thakur (President, State Chess Association) were present on the occasion.
