A Major Step Towards a Green Himachal: Electric Bus Service Launched from Una
Sabse Tez Khabar / Una
Taking another significant step towards making the state green and pollution-free, the Himachal Pradesh government launched an electric bus service from Una on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Mukesh Agnihotri flagged off the first electric bus from ISBT Una, sending it on its way to the Dera Baba Rudranand Ashram. Former MLA Satpal Singh Raizada, HRTC officials, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Agnihotri stated that the government is continuously working to make public transport modern, safe, and eco-friendly. He informed that operations for 15 electric buses have currently commenced from the Una depot, while a total of 50 electric buses have been allocated for the district. To ensure the seamless operation of these buses, two modern charging stations each have been set up at ISBT Una and the HRTC workshop in Rampur. Additionally, charging points have been established at Haroli, Amb, and Dulehar to prevent any charging-related issues. The Deputy Chief Minister added that the government is also working to make the HRTC self-reliant and technologically empowered. A tender process for tire retreading has been initiated to reduce operational costs. He expressed confidence that the expansion of electric bus services would give a new direction to the state's clean and sustainable transport system and play a pivotal role in realizing the goal of making Himachal a green state.
