सिरमौर जिला की तहसील शिलाई के गांव कुहुंट निवासी 23 वर्षीय ऋतिक चौहान, पुत्र चतर सिंह का चंडीगढ़ में असमय निधन हो गया। कम उम्र में हुई इस दुखद घटना से परिवार, गांव और पूरे शिलाई क्षेत्र में शोक की लहर है। प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार ऋतिक चंडीगढ़ में होटल लाइन में नौकरी करता था और किराये के कमरे में रहता था। बताया जा रहा है कि वह नशे का आदी था। इसी दौरान वह अपने कमरे में मृत अवस्था में पाया गया। घटना की सूचना मिलने के बाद संबंधित स्तर पर आवश्यक कानूनी प्रक्रिया पूरी की गई तथा चंडीगढ़ में ही पोस्टमार्टम करवाया गया। हालांकि, ऋतिक की मौत किन परिस्थितियों में हुई और इसका वास्तविक कारण क्या था, इसकी आधिकारिक पुष्टि जांच और पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट के बाद ही हो सकेगी। ऋतिक के निधन के बाद कुहुंट गांव में होने वाला शांत महायज्ञ भी स्थगित कर दिया गया है। गांव के सभी सदस्यों और बुजुर्गों ने सर्वसम्मति से निर्णय लेते हुए 16 सितंबर को प्रस्तावित शांत महायज्ञ को तत्काल प्रभाव से स्थगित करने का फैसला लिया है। ऋतिक की असमय मौत ने युवाओं में बढ़ती नशे की समस्या को लेकर भी चिंता बढ़ा दी है। नशा किसी एक व्यक्ति के जीवन को ही प्रभावित नहीं करता, बल्कि इसका असर पूरे परिवार पर पड़ता है। एक युवा के सपनों और भविष्य के साथ-साथ परिवार की खुशियां भी इससे बुरी तरह प्रभावित होती हैं। ऐसे में युवाओं को नशे से दूर रखना, उन्हें सही मार्गदर्शन देना और सकारात्मक गतिविधियों से जोड़ना परिवार, समाज और प्रशासन की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी बनती है। 23 वर्षीय ऋतिक के निधन से उनके परिजनों, रिश्तेदारों, मित्रों और क्षेत्रवासियों को गहरा सदमा लगा है। इतनी कम उम्र में बेटे को खोना परिवार के लिए बेहद पीड़ादायक है। घटना के बाद कुहुंट गांव सहित पूरे शिलाई क्षेत्र में शोक का माहौल बना हुआ है।

Ritik Chauhan, a 23-year-old resident of Kuhunt village in the Shillai tehsil of Sirmaur district, has passed away prematurely in Chandigarh. This tragic incident, involving the loss of a young life, has cast a pall of gloom over his family, the village, and the entire Shillai region. According to reports, Ritik worked in the hospitality sector in Chandigarh and lived in a rented room; it is alleged that he struggled with substance abuse. He was found dead in his room. Following the incident, necessary legal formalities were completed, and a post-mortem examination was conducted in Chandigarh. However, official confirmation regarding the circumstances and the exact cause of his death will only be possible after the investigation and the post-mortem report are finalized. In the wake of Ritik's passing, the 'Shant Mahayagya' (a religious ceremony for peace and well-being) scheduled to take place in Kuhunt village has been postponed. Village elders and residents unanimously decided to defer the event, originally planned for September 16, with immediate effect. Ritik's untimely death has also heightened concerns regarding the growing problem of substance abuse among the youth. Drug addiction does not merely affect an individual's life; it impacts the entire family. It devastates a young person's dreams and future while shattering the family's happiness. Consequently, keeping the youth away from drugs, providing them with proper guidance, and engaging them in positive activities has become a collective responsibility shared by families, society, and the administration. The passing of 23-year-old Ritik has left his family, relatives, friends, and local residents in deep shock. Losing a son at such a young age is an agonizing experience for the family. A somber atmosphere prevails across Kuhunt village and the entire Shillai region following this tragic event.
