Health Department on Alert Over Rising Swine Flu Cases in Kangra; 38 Patients Test Positive

Sabse Tez Khabar / Dharamshala:

The Health Department has stepped up surveillance in Kangra district due to the rising number of swine flu cases. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Umesh Bharti stated that 127 tests for swine flu have been conducted in the district since January, with 38 individuals testing positive. Fortunately, none of the patients are currently in critical condition. The CMO has urged the public to wear masks if they exhibit symptoms such as a cold, fever, body aches, or other signs associated with swine flu. He noted that an infected person can prevent the spread of the virus to others by taking necessary precautions. People have also been advised to stay hydrated and consume a nutritious diet. According to the Health Department, early symptoms of swine flu can resemble those of the common cold, including a runny nose, sneezing, chills, fever, weakness, coughing, and body aches. However, difficulty breathing or a high fever that does not subside despite medication can indicate severe symptoms; patients should seek immediate medical attention if such symptoms appear. The Health Department has appealed to the public to remain vigilant rather than panic. Experts note that a seasonal rise in Influenza A (H1N1)—or swine flu—cases can occur during the monsoon season. If symptoms arise, it is crucial to consult a doctor for an examination and appropriate treatment rather than resorting to self-medication.
