राजकीय महाविद्यालय शिलाई की राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना इकाई द्वारा प्राचार्य गोपाल भारद्वाज के मार्गदर्शन में सामुदायिक सेवा एवं स्वच्छता को समर्पित एक दिवसीय शिविर का आयोजन किया गया। शिविर का उद्देश्य स्वयंसेवकों में स्वच्छता, पर्यावरण संरक्षण एवं सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व की भावना को बढ़ावा देना रहा। शिविर की शुरुआत शिलाई बाजार में ‘प्लास्टिक बैग को ना कहें’ संदेश के साथ जागरूकता रैली से हुई। रैली के माध्यम से स्थानीय लोगों एवं दुकानदारों को प्लास्टिक की थैलियों के दुष्प्रभावों के प्रति जागरूक किया गया तथा पर्यावरण अनुकूल विकल्प अपनाने का संदेश दिया गया। इसके उपरांत स्वयंसेवकों ने शिलाई बाजार में स्वच्छता अभियान चलाया और सड़कों एवं आसपास के क्षेत्रों में पड़े रैपर, पॉलीथीन तथा अन्य कचरे को एकत्रित कर सफाई की। इसके बाद सभी स्वयंसेवक शिलाई स्थित गूगा माड़ी मंदिर पहुंचे, जहां आगामी जन्माष्टमी मेले की तैयारियां जोर-शोर से चल रही हैं। स्वयंसेवकों ने मेले की तैयारियों में स्थानीय लोगों का सक्रिय रूप से सहयोग किया। उन्होंने मंदिर परिसर तथा मंदिर से सटे रास्तों की सफाई की और आसपास फैले कचरे को हटाकर परिसर को स्वच्छ एवं व्यवस्थित बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया। इस दौरान स्वयंसेवकों ने सामुदायिक सहभागिता का परिचय देते हुए स्थानीय लोगों के साथ मिलकर स्वच्छता कार्यों में सक्रिय भागीदारी निभाई। पूरे अभियान के माध्यम से स्वच्छ शिलाई, प्लास्टिक मुक्त शिलाई तथा स्वच्छ एवं सुंदर धार्मिक स्थलों का संदेश दिया गया। इस एक दिवसीय शिविर में राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना के कुल 48 स्वयंसेवकों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया और विभिन्न स्वच्छता एवं सामुदायिक सेवा गतिविधियों में सक्रिय योगदान दिया। राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना की इस पहल ने स्वयंसेवकों को सामुदायिक सेवा के साथ-साथ पर्यावरण संरक्षण, स्वच्छता और सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी के प्रति जागरूक करने का महत्वपूर्ण कार्य किया।

A one-day camp dedicated to community service and cleanliness was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government College, Shillai, under the guidance of Principal Gopal Bhardwaj. The camp aimed to foster a sense of cleanliness, environmental conservation, and social responsibility among the volunteers. The event began with an awareness rally in Shillai market, conveying the message "Say No to Plastic Bags." Through the rally, local residents and shopkeepers were made aware of the harmful effects of plastic bags and encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. Subsequently, the volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive in the market, collecting wrappers, polythene, and other litter from the roads and surrounding areas. Following this, the volunteers visited the Guga Madi Temple in Shillai, where preparations for the upcoming Janmashtami fair were in full swing. They actively assisted the locals with the fair preparations, cleaning the temple premises and adjacent paths, and removing scattered waste to ensure the area was tidy and well-organized. Demonstrating a spirit of community participation, the volunteers worked alongside locals in these cleanliness efforts. The entire campaign conveyed the message of a clean and plastic-free Shillai, as well as the importance of maintaining clean and beautiful religious sites. A total of 48 NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in this one-day camp, contributing actively to various cleanliness and community service activities. This NSS initiative played a significant role in raising awareness among the volunteers regarding community service, environmental conservation, cleanliness, and social responsibility.
