NEET पेपर लीक और विभिन्न प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं में कथित गड़बड़ियों के विरोध में समाजसेवी, वैज्ञानिक और शिक्षाविद सोनम वांगचुक पिछले 19 दिनों से दिल्ली के जंतर-मंतर पर भूख हड़ताल पर हैं। लगातार अनशन के चलते उनकी तबीयत बिगड़ती जा रही है और बताया जा रहा है कि उनका वजन करीब 8.5 किलोग्राम कम हो चुका है। सोनम वांगचुक का कहना है कि देश के युवाओं को निष्पक्ष और पारदर्शी परीक्षा प्रणाली मिलनी चाहिए। उनका आरोप है कि पेपर लीक और परीक्षा अनियमितताओं से लाखों छात्रों के भविष्य पर प्रतिकूल असर पड़ रहा है। इसी मुद्दे को लेकर उन्होंने आंदोलन का रास्ता अपनाया है। गौरतलब है कि इससे पहले भी सोनम वांगचुक लद्दाख को संविधान की छठी अनुसूची में शामिल करने की मांग को लेकर लंबे समय तक भूख हड़ताल पर रहे थे। उस आंदोलन के दौरान हुई हिंसा के बाद उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर जोधपुर जेल भेजा गया था। शिक्षा, पर्यावरण संरक्षण और नवाचार के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान देने वाले सोनम वांगचुक अब देश के युवाओं के हितों और परीक्षा व्यवस्था में सुधार की मांग को लेकर आंदोलनरत हैं। उनकी बिगड़ती सेहत को देखते हुए समर्थकों और विभिन्न सामाजिक संगठनों ने सरकार से उनकी मांगों पर गंभीरता से विचार करने की अपील की है।

Social activist, scientist, and educationist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for the past 19 days to protest against the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in various competitive examinations. His health is deteriorating due to the prolonged fast, and reports indicate he has lost approximately 8.5 kilograms of weight. Wangchuk asserts that the nation's youth deserve a fair and transparent examination system. He alleges that paper leaks and exam irregularities are adversely affecting the futures of lakhs of students; this issue has prompted him to launch this agitation. Notably, Wangchuk had previously undertaken a long hunger strike demanding the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. Following violence during that movement, he was arrested and sent to Jodhpur Jail. Wangchuk, known for his significant contributions to education, environmental conservation, and innovation, is now campaigning for the interests of the youth and reforms in the examination system. Concerned about his declining health, supporters and various social organizations have appealed to the government to seriously consider his demands.
