This decision was taken during a 'Full Court meeting' of all Supreme Court judges on Wednesday and announced via an official statement on Thursday. Less than a week after an individual arguing their own case threw papers, used abusive language, and disrupted judicial proceedings in a Supreme Court courtroom, the apex court has decided that such litigants will generally be encouraged to appear virtually; those insisting on appearing in person will not be granted the facility of live-streaming or video recording of the proceedings. This decision was taken during a 'Full Court meeting' of all Supreme Court judges on Wednesday and announced via an official statement on Thursday. This appears to be the court's first institutional response to the incident on July 10, during which two law students were arrested after one of them allegedly assaulted security personnel while being escorted out of the courtroom. The 'Full Court' decided that, under the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, parties appearing in person would be given the option to present their case virtually during interactions with the Registrar. However, the statement noted that if a party insists on appearing in person, "there will be no live-streaming, and video-recording of the proceedings will not be permitted."
