शिमला में 4.0 तीव्रता का भूकंप, चंबा में भी महसूस हुए झटके

हिमाचल प्रदेश में बुधवार, 26 अगस्त 2026 की सुबह भूकंप के झटकों से लोगों में हलचल मच गई। शिमला में सुबह करीब 5 बजकर 46 मिनट पर 4.0 तीव्रता का भूकंप दर्ज किया गया। भूकंप के झटके कुछ सेकंड तक महसूस किए गए, जिसके बाद कई लोग एहतियातन घरों से बाहर निकल आए। राष्ट्रीय भूकंप विज्ञान केंद्र के अनुसार भूकंप का केंद्र जमीन के भीतर करीब 10 किलोमीटर की गहराई में था। शिमला के अलावा आसपास के कुछ क्षेत्रों में भी कंपन महसूस किए जाने की सूचना सामने आई है। सुबह के समय अचानक आए झटकों से लोगों में कुछ देर के लिए डर का माहौल बना रहा।
इससे पहले बुधवार तड़के चंबा जिले में भी भूकंप के झटके महसूस किए गए। चंबा में सुबह करीब 4 बजकर 38 मिनट पर 2.5 तीव्रता का भूकंप दर्ज किया गया। लगातार भूकंपीय गतिविधि के कारण लोगों में चिंता देखी गई, हालांकि दोनों घटनाओं के बाद किसी बड़े नुकसान की सूचना सामने नहीं आई है। प्रशासन और संबंधित विभाग स्थिति पर नजर बनाए हुए हैं। अभी तक भूकंप के कारण किसी तरह के जान-माल के नुकसान की पुष्टि नहीं हुई है। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार हिमाचल प्रदेश भूकंपीय रूप से संवेदनशील क्षेत्र में आता है, इसलिए भूकंप के दौरान लोगों को घबराने के बजाय सुरक्षित स्थान पर रहने और जरूरी सावधानियां बरतने की सलाह दी जाती है।
4.0 Magnitude Earthquake in Shimla; Tremors Also Felt in Chamba

People in Himachal Pradesh were stirred by earthquake tremors on the morning of Wednesday, August 26, 2026. An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale was recorded in Shimla at approximately 5:46 AM. The tremors lasted for a few seconds, prompting many residents to step out of their homes as a precautionary measure. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of about 10 kilometers underground. Reports indicate that tremors were felt not only in Shimla but also in some surrounding areas. The sudden morning tremors created a brief atmosphere of fear among the public.
Earlier that morning, tremors were also felt in the Chamba district. An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 was recorded in Chamba at around 4:38 AM. The continuous seismic activity caused concern among the residents; however, no major damage has been reported following either incident. The administration and relevant departments are monitoring the situation. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of loss of life or property. Experts note that Himachal Pradesh falls within a seismically sensitive zone; therefore, people are advised to stay in safe locations and observe necessary precautions during earthquakes rather than panicking.
