हल्द्वानी: वर्ष 2014 के चर्चित हल्द्वानी एसिड अटैक मामले में उत्तराखंड हाईकोर्ट ने दोषी मां-बेटे को बड़ी राहत देने से इनकार करते हुए आजीवन कारावास की सजा बरकरार रखी है। यह मामला हल्द्वानी के इंदिरा नगर क्षेत्र का है, जहां पड़ोसी परिवार के साथ विवाद के बाद तेजाब से हमला किया गया था। इस घटना में पांच लड़कियों और 18 महीने के मासूम समेत कई लोग प्रभावित हुए थे। मामले के अनुसार, वर्ष 2014 में विवाद के बाद मोहम्मद जैकी, उसकी मां रहमत जहां और एक नाबालिग ने दुकान से तेजाब की बोतलें लाकर दूसरे परिवार पर फेंक दी थीं। हमले में कुल 14 लोग प्रभावित होने की जानकारी सामने आई थी। चिकित्सकीय जांच में पांच घायलों के घाव और तेजाब के निशान जीवनभर पूरी तरह ठीक न होने की बात सामने आई थी। इस मामले में अभियोजन पक्ष ने 14 गवाह पेश किए थे। साक्ष्यों और गवाहों के आधार पर वर्ष 2018 में निचली अदालत ने तीनों आरोपियों को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई थी। दोषियों ने हाईकोर्ट में अपील कर करीब 12 साल जेल में रहने का हवाला देते हुए रिहाई की मांग की थी। हाईकोर्ट की पीठ ने अपील खारिज करते हुए सजा बरकरार रखी और मामले को जघन्य अपराध माना।

Haldwani: The Uttarakhand High Court has upheld the life imprisonment sentences of a mother and son convicted in the high-profile 2014 Haldwani acid attack case, refusing to grant them any relief. The incident occurred in the Indira Nagar area of Haldwani following a dispute with a neighboring family. Several people, including five girls and an 18-month-old infant, were affected by the attack. According to the case details, in 2014, following a dispute, Mohammad Jacky, his mother Rahmat Jahan, and a minor procured bottles of acid from a shop and threw them at the other family. A total of 14 people were reportedly affected by the attack. Medical examinations revealed that the injuries and acid burn marks sustained by five of the victims would never fully heal. The prosecution presented 14 witnesses in the case. Based on the evidence and testimonies, a lower court had sentenced all three accused to life imprisonment in 2018. The convicts had appealed to the High Court, seeking release by citing the approximately 12 years they had already spent in prison. Dismissing the appeal, the High Court bench upheld the sentences, categorizing the incident as a heinous crime.
