हमीरपुर में केंद्र सरकार की ओर से जारी यूजीसी की नई गाइडलाइन के विरोध में सामान्य वर्ग के सैकड़ों लोगों ने रैली निकाली। भोटा चौक से शुरू हुई यह रैली गांधी चौक तक पहुंची। इस दौरान प्रदर्शनकारियों ने यूजीसी रोल बैक के जमकर नारे लगाए और जाति आधारित नीतियों के खिलाफ अपनी आवाज बुलंद की। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने कहा कि आरक्षण का आधार जाति नहीं बल्कि आर्थिक स्थिति होनी चाहिए। उनका कहना था कि सामान्य वर्ग में भी कई ऐसे परिवार हैं, जिनकी आर्थिक स्थिति कमजोर है, लेकिन सामान्य वर्ग में होने के कारण उन्हें आरक्षण का लाभ नहीं मिल पाता। उन्होंने सरकार से आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर लोगों को समान आधार पर लाभ देने की मांग की। रैली के दौरान जिला राजपूत कल्याण सभा के अध्यक्ष जोगिंद्र ठाकुर ने कहा कि प्रदर्शन यूजीसी की नई गाइडलाइन के विरोध में किया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि आरक्षण और अन्य नीतियां आर्थिक आधार पर तय की जानी चाहिए। वहीं भाजपा के पूर्व विधायक नरेंद्र ठाकुर ने जाति आधारित आरक्षण समाप्त करने की मांग करते हुए कहा कि योग्य और जरूरतमंद लोगों को आर्थिक आधार पर लाभ मिलना चाहिए। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने सरकार से अपनी मांगों पर गंभीरता से विचार करने की अपील की। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि यदि उनकी मांगों को नजरअंदाज किया गया तो आंदोलन को और तेज किया जाएगा। प्रदर्शन के दौरान बड़ी संख्या में लोगों की मौजूदगी से हमीरपुर का गांधी चौक यूजीसी रोल बैक के नारों से गूंजता रहा।

Hundreds of people from the general category held a rally in Hamirpur to protest against the new UGC guidelines issued by the central government. Starting from Bhota Chowk, the rally proceeded to Gandhi Chowk. During the event, protesters loudly chanted slogans demanding a rollback of the UGC guidelines and raised their voices against caste-based policies. The protesters asserted that economic status, rather than caste, should be the basis for reservation. They pointed out that there are many families within the general category who are financially weak but are denied the benefits of reservation simply because they belong to that category. They urged the government to extend benefits to the economically disadvantaged on an equal footing. Jogindra Thakur, President of the District Rajput Kalyan Sabha, stated that the protest was organized to oppose the new UGC guidelines, emphasizing that reservation and other policies should be determined based on economic criteria. Meanwhile, former BJP MLA Narendra Thakur demanded the abolition of caste-based reservation, arguing that benefits should be provided to deserving and needy individuals based on their economic status. The protesters appealed to the government to give serious consideration to their demands and warned that the agitation would be intensified if their concerns were ignored. The large turnout ensured that Gandhi Chowk in Hamirpur reverberated with slogans demanding a rollback of the UGC guidelines.
