जिला सिरमौर की नगर परिषद पांवटा साहिब में अध्यक्ष और उपाध्यक्ष पद के चुनाव में भारतीय जनता पार्टी समर्थित उम्मीदवारों ने जीत हासिल कर परिषद की कमान अपने हाथ में ले ली। निर्मल कौर नगर परिषद की नई अध्यक्ष निर्वाचित हुईं, जबकि इंद्रजीत सिंह मिक्का उपाध्यक्ष चुने गए। चुनाव के दौरान भी कांग्रेस समर्थित पार्षद मतदान प्रक्रिया से दूर रहे। ऐसे में केवल भाजपा समर्थित आठ पार्षदों तथा विधायक सुखराम चौधरी ने अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग किया, जिसके बाद भाजपा समर्थित उम्मीदवारों की जीत सुनिश्चित हो गई। परिणाम घोषित होते ही नगर परिषद परिसर में भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं और समर्थकों में उत्साह का माहौल बन गया। नवनिर्वाचित अध्यक्ष एवं उपाध्यक्ष का फूल-मालाओं से भव्य स्वागत किया गया। कार्यकर्ताओं ने मिठाइयां बांटकर और एक-दूसरे को बधाई देकर जीत का जश्न मनाया। इस अवसर पर भाजपा के कई पदाधिकारी, पार्षद और बड़ी संख्या में कार्यकर्ता मौजूद रहे। समर्थकों ने विश्वास जताया कि नई परिषद टीम शहर के विकास कार्यों को नई गति देगी और जनहित से जुड़े मुद्दों को प्राथमिकता के आधार पर आगे बढ़ाएगी। शपथ ग्रहण के बाद नगर परिषद की नई टीम से शहरवासियों की उम्मीदें भी बढ़ गई हैं। लोगों को उम्मीद है कि स्वच्छता व्यवस्था, सड़क निर्माण एवं मरम्मत, पेयजल आपूर्ति, स्ट्रीट लाइट, पार्कों के विकास तथा अन्य बुनियादी सुविधाओं को मजबूत करने की दिशा में प्रभावी कदम उठाए जाएंगे।

Candidates supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in the elections for the posts of President and Vice-President of the Paonta Sahib Municipal Council in Sirmaur district, thereby taking charge of the council. Nirmal Kaur was elected as the new President of the Municipal Council, while Inderjit Singh 'Mikka' was elected as the Vice-President. Congress-backed councilors abstained from the voting process. Consequently, only the eight BJP-supported councilors and MLA Sukhram Chaudhary exercised their right to vote, ensuring the victory of the BJP-backed candidates. As soon as the results were declared, an atmosphere of enthusiasm prevailed among BJP workers and supporters within the Municipal Council premises. The newly elected President and Vice-President received a grand welcome with floral garlands. Party workers celebrated the victory by distributing sweets and congratulating one another. Several BJP office-bearers, councilors, and a large number of party workers were present on the occasion. Supporters expressed confidence that the new council team would accelerate the city's development works and prioritize issues concerning the public interest. Following the swearing-in ceremony, the city residents' expectations from the new Municipal Council team have risen. People hope that effective steps will be taken to strengthen sanitation systems, road construction and repair, drinking water supply, street lighting, park development, and other basic amenities.
