नाहन-पांवटा साहिब राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर एक बार फिर भारी मालवाहक ट्रालों की आवाजाही आम यात्रियों के लिए आफत बन गई है। शुक्रवार तड़के करीब 4 से 5 बजे के बीच शंभूवाला में थापा हट के समीप एक साथ तीन ट्रालों के उलझने से यातायात पूरी तरह ठप हो गया। हादसे के वक्त सुबह तड़के का समय होने के कारण अचानक ही मार्ग के दोनों ओर वाहनों की लंबी-लंबी कतारें लग गईं, जिससे दैनिक यात्रियों, कामकाजी लोगों और चालकों को भारी असुविधा का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, घटना उस समय हुई जब एक ट्राला चालक दूसरे वाहन से पास लेने की कोशिश में आगे बढ़ा, लेकिन संकरे मार्ग और मोड़ के कारण वह बीच सड़क में ही फंस गया। इसी दौरान सामने व पीछे से आ रहे अन्य ट्राले भी खुद को बचाने के चक्कर में सड़क के किनारे कच्चे हिस्से में उतर गए और ढलान में धंस गए। देखते ही देखते सड़क का मुख्य हिस्सा पूरी तरह ब्लॉक हो गया और दोनों दिशाओं से आने-जाने वाले छोटे-बड़े वाहनों के पहिए थम गए।
घटना की सूचना मिलते ही स्थानीय पुलिस टीम ने मौके पर पहुंचकर मोर्चे को संभाला और यातायात को नियंत्रित करने के प्रयास शुरू कर दिए। पुलिस कर्मियों ने बारी-बारी से दोनों ओर से एक-एक लेन निकालकर छोटे वाहनों को निकालने की कड़ी मशक्कत की। कड़ी मेहनत के बाद पुलिस प्रशासन लगभग तीन घंटे बाद जाम को खुलवाने में सफल रहा। हालांकि, भारी ट्रालों को सड़क से पूरी तरह हटाकर यातायात व्यवस्था को सामान्य करने का काम जारी है, जिसके दोपहर तक पूरी तरह सुचारू होने के आसार हैं। गौरतलब है कि थापा हट का यह स्थान ट्रालों के फंसने के लिहाज़ से काफी संवेदनशील बनता जा रहा है। कुछ समय पहले भी ठीक इसी जगह पर एक ट्राला सड़क के बीचों-बीच फंस गया था, जिसके चलते पुलिस को रूट डायवर्ट तक करना पड़ा था। उस दौरान यातायात नियमों के उल्लंघन और अव्यवस्था फैलाने पर पुलिस ने कड़ा संज्ञान लेते हुए संबंधित वाहन का 22,000 रुपये का भारी चालान भी काटा था। इसके बावजूद चालकों द्वारा बरती जा रही लापरवाही के कारण स्थानीय लोगों और यात्रियों को बार-बार घंटों ट्रैफिक जाम से जूझना पड़ रहा है।

The movement of heavy cargo trailers has once again become a major nuisance for commuters on the Nahan-Paonta Sahib National Highway. Traffic came to a complete standstill early Friday morning—between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM—after three trailers got entangled near 'Thapa Hut' in Shambhuwala. As the incident occurred in the early hours, long queues of vehicles quickly formed on both sides of the road, causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters, working professionals, and drivers. According to eyewitnesses, the incident began when a trailer driver attempted to overtake another vehicle but got stuck in the middle of the road due to the narrow passage and a sharp curve. Meanwhile, other trailers approaching from the front and rear veered onto the unpaved roadside to avoid a collision, only to sink into the soft ground on the slope. Within moments, the main carriageway was completely blocked, halting the movement of all vehicles—large and small—from both directions.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a local police team arrived at the scene to manage the situation and regulate traffic. Police personnel worked hard to clear a single lane alternately from both sides to let smaller vehicles pass. After strenuous effort, the police administration succeeded in clearing the traffic jam after approximately three hours. However, operations to fully remove the heavy trailers and restore normal traffic flow are ongoing, with the situation expected to normalize by the afternoon. It is worth noting that this specific spot near Thapa Hut is becoming a notorious trouble zone for trailers getting stuck. A similar incident occurred here recently when a trailer got stranded in the middle of the road, forcing the police to divert traffic. During that period, the police took strict action against traffic violations and the creation of disorder, issuing a hefty fine of ₹22,000 to the vehicle involved. Despite this, the negligence displayed by drivers continues to force local residents and travelers to repeatedly grapple with traffic jams lasting for hours.
