She won a bronze medal in the 10,000-meter race at the Asian Games held in Japan. Her achievement has sparked a wave of joy in her village and among her family members. Seema’s journey was far from easy; during the final lap of the race, the sole of her shoe even came off, yet she did not lose heart—she completed the race and secured the medal. According to her family, driven by her passion for sports, Seema left home while in the seventh grade to move to the SAI Hostel in Dharamshala for better training. Her family had faced a major crisis during her childhood; her father passed away in 2012, after which her mother took over the responsibility of the household. Amidst limited resources in a family of seven siblings, Seema made sports her goal. On Thursday, as Seema competed, her mother watched the race on television, praying for her success. This achievement is being hailed as a moment of pride for Himachal Pradesh as well. Under the state's sports policy, the government has announced a cash award of **one crore rupees** for her. Seema’s brother stated that his sister has brought honor to the entire country and to Chamba. Preparations are underway for a grand welcome by her family and fellow villagers upon her return home.
