श्री पाँवटा साहिब वेलफेयर सोसायटी की ओर से देश के महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी 'शहीद-ए-आजम' भगत सिंह जी की जयंती पर उन्हें भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की गई। इस विशेष अवसर पर सोसायटी के प्रमुख सदस्य और समाजसेवी गुरदीप सिंह गैरी की अगुवाई में स्थानीय सिविल अस्पताल में भर्ती मरीजों और उनके तीमारदारों (परिजनों) को ताजे फल वितरित किए गए। इस दौरान अस्पताल परिसर में कई गणमान्य लोग और समाजसेवी भी मौजूद रहे, जिन्होंने मरीजों का कुशलक्षेम जाना। वहीं, मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए समाजसेवी गुरदीप सिंह गैरी ने कहा, "आज का दिन हमारे देश के लिए बेहद खास और ऐतिहासिक है। आज हमारे उस महान नायक का जन्म दिवस है, जिन्होंने देश की आजादी के लिए हंसते-हंसते अपना सर्वोच्च बलिदान दे दिया। आज हम सब उनकी शहादत और उनके दिखाए मार्ग को याद कर उन्हें नमन कर रहे हैं। "उन्होंने कहा कि शहीदों को सच्ची श्रद्धांजलि यही है कि हम समाज के जरूरतमंदों की सेवा के लिए आगे आएं।
मीडिया के सवालों का जवाब देते हुए गुरदीप सिंह गैरी ने बताया कि यह उनका और सोसायटी का सौभाग्य है कि उन्हें सिविल अस्पताल में लंगर सेवा शुरू करने का अवसर मिला। इस लंगर का सबसे अधिक लाभ दूर-दराज के ग्रामीण इलाकों से आने वाले गरीब मरीजों और उनके परिजनों को मिल रहा है। उन्होंने विशेष रूप से जिक्र किया कि ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों से आने वाली माताएं और बुजुर्ग अक्सर अस्पताल में आकर भोजन को लेकर बेहद परेशान होते हैं, जिन्हें अब अस्पताल परिसर में ही सम्मानपूर्वक भोजन मिल रहा है। गैरी ने घोषणा की कि शिमला के आईजीएमसी (IGMC) और चंडीगढ़ के पीजीआई (PGI) में चलने वाले लंगर सेवादारों से प्रेरणा लेते हुए, पाँवटा साहिब वेलफेयर सोसाइटी ने आने वाले समय में इस लंगर सेवा को दोनों समय (सुबह और शाम) संचालित करने की तैयारी मे है। इस मौके पर उपस्थित सभी समाजसेवियों ने संकल्प लिया कि वे शहीद भगत सिंह के आदर्शों पर चलते हुए समाज सेवा के इस कारवां को लगातार आगे बढ़ाते रहेंगे।

Shri Paonta Sahib Welfare Society paid a heartfelt tribute to the nation's great freedom fighter, 'Shaheed-e-Azam' Bhagat Singh Ji, on his birth anniversary. On this special occasion, led by the Society's key member and social worker Gurdeep Singh Garry, fresh fruits were distributed to patients admitted to the local Civil Hospital and their attendants (family members). Several dignitaries and social workers were present on the hospital premises during the event and inquired about the patients' well-being. Speaking to the media, social worker Gurdeep Singh Garry said, "Today is a very special and historic day for our country. It is the birth anniversary of that great hero who cheerfully made the supreme sacrifice for the nation's freedom. Today, we all bow in reverence, remembering his martyrdom and the path he showed us." He added that the true tribute to martyrs is for us to step forward and serve the needy in society.
Responding to questions from the media, Gurdeep Singh Garry stated that it was a privilege for both him and the Society to have the opportunity to initiate the *Langar* service at the Civil Hospital. The greatest beneficiaries of this *Langar* are poor patients and their families arriving from remote rural areas. He specifically mentioned that mothers and elderly people coming from rural areas often faced great anxiety regarding food upon reaching the hospital; now, they are receiving meals with dignity right within the hospital premises. Gary announced that, drawing inspiration from the *langar* volunteers at IGMC Shimla and PGI Chandigarh, the Paonta Sahib Welfare Society is preparing to operate this *langar* service twice daily (morning and evening) in the near future. All the social workers present on the occasion pledged to continue advancing this mission of social service while following the ideals of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
