सिरमौर पुलिस ने नशा तस्करी के खिलाफ चलाए जा रहे अभियान के तहत चिट्टा तस्करी के एक बड़े नेटवर्क की जांच को आगे बढ़ाते हुए पंजाब के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र तरनतारन से एक और आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया है। पुलिस जांच में इस नेटवर्क की कड़ियां पाकिस्तान सीमा तक जुड़ती सामने आई हैं। पूछताछ में सीमा पार से ड्रोन के माध्यम से नशे की खेप भारत पहुंचाए जाने की जानकारी सामने आई है। पुलिस के अनुसार 11 अप्रैल 2026 को कालाअम्ब पुलिस ने 294 ग्राम चिट्टा बरामद कर आकाशदीप और रणजीत को गिरफ्तार किया था। इस दौरान वाहन चालक मौके से फरार हो गया था। इसके बाद पुलिस ने वाहन मालिक गंधर्व थापर को पंचकूला से हिरासत में लिया। गिरफ्तार आरोपियों से पूछताछ और तकनीकी साक्ष्यों के आधार पर पुलिस ने मामले की जांच आगे बढ़ाई तो चिट्टे की सप्लाई की कड़ी पंजाब के तरनतारन क्षेत्र से जुड़ती चली गई।
जांच के आधार पर पुलिस टीम ने 17 मई 2026 को वीरेंद्र पाल को तरनतारन से गिरफ्तार किया। पूछताछ में नशे की खेप पाकिस्तान से ड्रोन के जरिए भारत पहुंचाए जाने की जानकारी सामने आई। इसके बाद पुलिस ने नेटवर्क से जुड़े अन्य लोगों की भूमिका की जांच शुरू की। जांच के दौरान उमर बीर सिंह का नाम सामने आने पर थाना कालाअम्ब के एसएचओ कुलवंत सिंह कंवर की अगुवाई में पुलिस टीम गठित की गई। जांच में साइबर सैल सिरमौर को भी शामिल किया गया। तकनीकी साक्ष्यों और मानवीय इनपुट के आधार पर लगातार तलाश के बाद पुलिस ने उमर बीर सिंह को पाकिस्तान सीमा के समीप तरनतारन क्षेत्र से गिरफ्तार कर लिया। पुलिस अब गिरफ्तार आरोपी से पूछताछ कर नेटवर्क से जुड़े अन्य लोगों तथा नशे की सप्लाई की पूरी कड़ी का पता लगाने में जुटी है। यह भी जांच की जा रही है कि सीमा पार से पहुंचने वाली नशे की खेप को आगे किन माध्यमों से सप्लाई किया जाता था और इसमें अन्य कौन-कौन लोग शामिल हैं। एएसपी सिरमौर नरेंद्र कुमार ने बताया कि मामले की जांच जारी है तथा नेटवर्क से जुड़े अन्य लोगों की भूमिका भी खंगाली जा रही है।

As part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, the Sirmaur Police has arrested another accused from the Tarn Taran area of Punjab, bordering Pakistan, while investigating a major 'chitta' smuggling network. Police investigations have revealed links connecting this network to the Pakistan border. Interrogation disclosed that consignments of the drug were being delivered to India from across the border using drones. According to the police, on April 11, 2026, the Kala-Amb police had seized 294 grams of 'chitta' and arrested Akashdeep and Ranjeet; however, the vehicle's driver had managed to flee the scene at the time. Subsequently, the police detained the vehicle's owner, Gandharv Thapar, from Panchkula. Based on the interrogation of the arrested individuals and technical evidence, the investigation progressed, tracing the supply chain of the drug to the Tarn Taran region of Punjab.
Acting on the investigation, a police team arrested Virendra Pal from Tarn Taran on May 17, 2026. Interrogation revealed details about drug consignments being transported from Pakistan to India via drones. The police then began investigating the roles of other individuals linked to the network. When the name of Umar Bir Singh surfaced during the probe, a police team was constituted under the leadership of Kulwant Singh Kanwar, SHO of Kala-Amb Police Station. The Sirmaur Cyber Cell was also involved in the investigation. Following an extensive search based on technical evidence and human intelligence, the police arrested Umar Bir Singh from the Tarn Taran area, near the Pakistan border. The police are now interrogating the arrested accused to identify other individuals connected to the network and to uncover the entire drug supply chain. Investigations are also underway to determine the channels used to distribute the drug consignments arriving from across the border and to identify other individuals involved. Sirmaur ASP Narendra Kumar stated that the investigation is ongoing and the roles of other persons linked to the network are being scrutinized.
