Sabse Tez Khabar / Nahan
After a wait of nearly 11 years, the roar of the Royal Bengal Tiger will once again be heard at the Shri Renuka Ji Zoo in Sirmaur district. A male-female pair of tigers arrived at Shri Renuka Ji on Sunday from the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The two tigers covered a journey of approximately 1,900 kilometers. Transported with special security arrangements, the pair consists of a male tiger aged around five years and a female aged around three years. Throughout the approximately 43-hour journey, a team from the Wildlife Department and experts continuously monitored both tigers. Upon arrival at Renuka Ji, they have been placed in an indoor ward, where their health and acclimatization to the new environment will be monitored by veterinarians. According to the Wildlife Department, a modern enclosure has been prepared for the tigers; approximately ₹1.67 crore was spent on its construction. Officials stated that all necessary formalities required by Central Government regulations were completed to facilitate the transfer. The pair was brought from Maharashtra to Himachal under a wildlife exchange program. For now, tourists will have to wait a few more days to see these tigers. According to the Wildlife Department, plans are in place to release the tigers into the enclosure for public viewing starting October 2, following a period of health monitoring and acclimatization to the new environment. The arrival of the tigers has added a new attraction for tourists and wildlife enthusiasts at the Shri Renuka Ji Zoo.
