Sabse Tez Khabar/Paonta Sahib
The body of Nikhil Gupta—who had fallen from the Yamuna bridge in Paonta Sahib (Sirmaur district) and been swept away by the river—was recovered near the Hathnikund Barrage following a four-day search operation. News of the recovery plunged his family into grief. Paonta Sahib SDM Dwij Goyal stated that, according to police records, Nikhil Gupta (son of Suresh Gupta, a resident of Ward No. 12, Paonta Sahib) fell from the Yamuna bridge around 6:30 PM on September 27 and was carried away by the river's strong current. Following the incident, the local administration deployed divers to search for him; the 'Panther Wild Adventure Rafting Team' also assisted in the effort. Given the river's flow, a joint search operation was conducted in coordination with the administrations of Yamunanagar and Saharanpur. The SDM noted that the State Disaster Management Team, alongside experienced divers deployed by the local, Yamunanagar, and Saharanpur administrations, conducted a continuous search. After the multi-day operation, his body was recovered today near the Hathnikund Barrage. According to the administration, the body has been taken into custody, and necessary legal and medical formalities are underway. The body will be handed over to the family once all procedures are complete.
